Ruby my 11 year old doberman, was one tough girl she got clipped by a lorry at the age of 3, which left her right back knee broken. Ruby's knee never really repaired properly, but she limped and learned to run on three legs. Ruby had the biggest ears you could ever imagine, we used to take her for walks down to an old airfield where gliders still went over, Ruby used to chase the gliders and with her ears it made her look like she was going to take off herself. Ruby was a very funny and gentle dog. We used to take Ruby swimming to help her leg and she really enjoyed it. Every puddle or bit of water Ruby saw she would head straight for. Ruby also brought up Poppy from a pup and taught her many tricks, they were bestfriends and went everywhere together. At the end Ruby got cancer in her knee, and it spread to her lungs, so we had to make that awful decision as she was struggling to breathe. Ruby was the boss, she used to go everywhere with us thinking she owned the place, we love her so much and miss her everyday of our lives.

The Silhouette

The silhouette stands boldly
at the end of the hallway
ears erect, eyes like jewels
the tail, it softly sways.
This wouldn't be the first time
I've seen her stand nearby
her image clear as crystal
from the corner of my eye.
Her visits I don't share with some
who think I've went over and beyond
the grieving time they deem I need,
they say I should move on.
I sometimes pity people who
have never felt just cause
to share the bond between two souls,
one with hands and one with paws.
The silhouette reminds me
what the others say is wrong
for as long as breath goes through me
there exists our mighty bond.
When the Keeper calls me home
and the Bridge gates open wide
our bond will deepen ten fold
as we walk through side by side.
You see, I am the lucky one
as I've been truly blessed
for someday we'll walk together
as eternal silhouettes.
Dear Ruby,
Well that time has come and Poppy is with you now and Timmy too. Poppy died quite suddenly and has left us shocked, we miss poppy and you everyday, i pray you two are together, i am lost without you both, take care my angel Ruby, love and miss you always love from mum xxxxx

we also lost Timmy on friday, so things are pretty rubbish for us at home.
we have been talking and laughing about your funny ways alot recently, and Poppy went so sudden so weve all just broke down into tears. Mums going to write on here later on, she hasnt forgotten about any of you, we just cant believe the loss :'(
i hope your doig ok up there tho, and looking down on us all.
and PLEASE look down on Charlie and keep and eye on him and make sure popsey does too. hes going to need all the love and care he can get, as its just him now :(

Dear Ruby
Dear Ruby, im sorry i didnt write on here for your birthday but i have been very ill and havent been able to move for 3 weeks, im alot better now, well until timmy passed away on friday, i miss you so much, poppy has been ill but is recovering well and has more teddies than ever. Think of you laying in the sun with me and running in the corn fields which you loved to do with poppy. We will meet again one day, please look after timmy, emily and kitty please, love you lots

Hello my gorgeous Ruby, just to let you know that Poppy is not well at the moment she has diabetes and she has injections everyday, she looks old now but is coping well, she looks like you sometimes and it makes us smile. Love you never forget you.
